Cortland

A cross between the McIntosh and Ben Davis varieties, it is a medium to large apple, somewhat flat oval in shape. It is bright red, with a green/yellow cheek. The flesh is snow white, quite firm, mildly tart and delicate in texture. When peeled or sliced, it retains its white colour longer than any other variety, making it especially good for salads and fruit cups. Good for fresh eating, baking and sauces.
